Absolutely. However, sometimes speed and convenience take precedence over “best”. Doing things manually with the pen tool will often get you the best results, but there can be a lot of extra steps involved if you are already working in Photoshop and have to move to Illustrator or another app to create your cuts. Even if you want to draw your paths manually, with Lightning Cutlines you can now do that and create your cut files without having to leave Photoshop.

Whoever told you that was right…it CAN’T…until now! It wasn’t an easy task. We had to custom create our own exporter within the plug-in. Photoshop can’t export the proper files, but Lightning Cutlines can!

It does that too! You can create both CutContour and PerfCutContour lines all within Photoshop and then open the exported art files directly in your RIP software.

While the plugin adds a lot of functionality to Photoshop, there are limitations. It is not as good at very detailed items, and doing it in a real vector program like Illustrator can often give better results. However, there are a lot of instances that using the plug-in will do a fine job, and it is fast and convenient. Please watch the demo and tutorial videos to determine if it is right for your needs.

Due to limitations with Photoshops vector tracing capabilities, you may not get perfect auto-generated cut paths for highly detailed images. Therefore, the AUTO features of the plug-in are best suited for things like sticker shapes, Big Heads, etc. However, if you do some manual work in creating paths, you can create paths for almost anything just like you could in Illustrator. The plug-in allows you tons of flexibility without having to jump to another program.

Lightning Cutlines is compatible with Photoshop versions 23.3 and up.

We offer our plug-in as a subscription in order to be able to keep up with tech support and dealing with the constant updates Adobe makes that often break plug-ins. However, If you only need to use the plug-in for a short time, there is nothing wrong with getting it for a month and then cancelling your subscription. It is actually a very affordable way to use our plug-in. Some of our users just get it for 1-2 months a year. We don’t mind at all. Just please don’t forget to cancel.
